2019 Notes From Artists Dennis Eavenson And Sharon Eavenson On Our Abstract Expressionist Paintings

These abstract expressionist works are varied and reflective. They encompass a broad range of personal feelings to create
an exactitude of emotion and spur contemplation about existence. Visual tools let us communicate our essence by defining,
redefining and evolving aspects of ourselves. In this manner, we examine and explain our place in the world. Our artworks
seek to discover truthful revelations concerning our own inner spiritual being.

Creating art is a conduit to a deeper relationship with self and God. It heightens our awareness and understanding of greater
truths. We become elated and transfixed by the process and the euphoric effect is the same, whether it takes the form
of painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture or new media. When working expressionistically, our emotions rise to
the surface and we feel excited by existence in the actual process of creation.

For us it is a higher form of awareness and can be compared to meditation or worship, where the participant releases their
spiritual selves from the constraints of environmental awareness. Touching on our personal epiphanies, we establish a
dialogue with the viewer and capture common ground for an emotional response. We all feel these emotions which can be
simple or complex. They are intrinsically interwoven into the fabric of our individual lives and create a catalyst for action. The
viewing audience is provided with an opportunity to experience our emotions from set visual factors and relate them back to
their own life experiences.

Jupiter 1a and Jupiter 2a fuse fluid painterly techniques with expressive brushwork that hints at the physical motion we use as
we connect our own bodies with the brush and canvas surface. Combining the act of mark making with fluid color grounds
lets us explore the sensual experiences felt during the painting process. We immerse ourselves in the lusciousness of the wet
color experience blending pigments on the surface. Detail and focal points are achieved with painterly lines that range from
soft watery smears to bold energetic strokes. These are designed to build rhythm and drama for each composition. Working
collaboratively is an orchestrated dance across the canvas. To produce visual harmonies that mirror our own unconscious
mental worlds we react and respond to each other until sensing the moment of completion
