2019 Notes From Artists Dennis Eavenson And Sharon Eavenson On The Shield Pieces

Warrior armour and tribal shields are a vital part of survival on the daily battle field of the 21st century just as they were in the
days of the Spartan empire. Dynamic representations are designed to protect and identify individuals, corporations, religious
organizations, product brands and professional groups. They represent political systems, families, sport teams, schools,
regions and ethnicities. Cultures have changed but the need to identify with a group for protection and survival still remains
an integral aspect of humanity. Brands and symbols saturate our daily lives defining philosophies, political groups and
theological directions. They reflect their personality back to the opponents that we engage with and release optical energies
at the audience to prompt emotional responses. These works are designed to communicate that same power.
